Union Carpenters Help Businesses Following Recent Demonstrations
Following initial George Floyd demonstrations, many businesses found themselves looted and vandalized. Seeing an opportunity to step in, our Union Carpenters collaborated with elected officials to immediately answer the call that local businesses so desperately needed. Union Carpenters Local 213, 562, 619 and 661 donated hundreds of sheets of plywood to board up to storefronts and help prevent future damage.
These efforts did not go unnoticed as all participating Locals received media attention. ABC, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, and L.A. This Week were just a couple of the news stations that interviewed our Union Carpenters and covered the story.
There is no doubt that the last few months have left a lasting impact on many of our members and communities. We proudly stand by everyone’s right to protest and make their voices heard, especially during these times. We also stand by members of our communities that have been affected by looters and the crime that has attempted to overshadow the real purpose of these demonstrations. We remain committed to serving the communities in which we work and live in.
