Phoenix – The recent Phoenix skills event marks the beginning of the end of the local skills event challenges. Phoenix area carpenters went head-to-head to demonstrate to their community the dedication and craftsmanship of SWRCC carpenters and send two exceptional carpenters to Ontario for the Tournament of Champions later this year.

The event drew hundreds of attendees including greater Phoenix community leaders. Showing her support for working-class families and a highly trained workforce, Phoenix Councilwoman and mayoral candidate Kate Gallegos took part in the afternoon’s festivities.

Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, a non-profit building and remodeling handicap accessible homes for injured veterans, was also in attendance to support the ‘4-star’ partnership between the non-profit and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC).

Big congratulations to Jose Gomez, the Drywall Champion, and Panfilo Acosta, the Concrete Champion. These outstanding carpenters will join their brothers and sisters in Ontario, California later.
