Event, with SWRCC custom carpentry, raises $170 thousand for Los Angeles children

Los Angeles – Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters (SWRCC) Local 409 volunteered their time and skills to CASA Los Angeles, helping to raise over $170 thousand during  “one of L.A.’s most exciting events.”

The LA CASA affiliate, a nation-wide organization that provides court-appointed special advocates (CASA) for abused or neglected children, held their 4th annual Wine+Art event last weekend. The money will go towards supporting over 30,000 youth in the L.A. child welfare system.

An Instagram post from CASA LA, gave special thanks to the Local 409 Carpenters. “These awesome guys at Carpenters Local 409 volunteered to make our portable walls for this Saturday’s Wine+Art!! The walls are beautiful and we are so grateful! 😭 .

Across the region, SWRCC locals organize volunteer committees to put their skills and craftsmanship to work for their local communities. If interested in volunteering with your local union, or if you have a project that the Carpenters could help with, please contact your local union.
