Carpenters Creating Special Spaces
It was a busy weekend for Las Vegas’s union carpenters. Special Spaces is a non profit organization that creates dream bedrooms for children with life-threatening medical illnesses. Local 1977 Community Action Committee visited with Special Spaces Las Vegas chapter to help make a dream come true for one brave little boy, who is battling hard against cancer. “We are all Ohana and connected in some way,” said committee chairman, Hiro Kajiyama. Local 1977 has made a point of connecting with their community, by partnering with Special Spaces Las Vegas in the past, for their October Cancer Awareness Month projects. Last weekend’s project was particularly special because Local 1977 was helping Special Spaces complete their 1000th Dream Bedroom. The Southwest Regional Council was proud to be there celebrating a milestone on a journey that began 15 years ago transforming the lives of 1000 families, countless friends, and volunteers.
